What is important to me in education is books and brains. Where they often come together is school. I have worked as a classroom teacher with students age PreK-12 in Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho and Washington state, first as a high school English teacher and then studying language development as a preschool teacher. My goal as a researcher is to better understand how the processes of development and literacy are intertwined, and how better to support diverse students at all ages to become part of literate culture.
